We were delighted to be joined by an array of customers and press for the 10th anniversary tasting of The Glenfarclas Family Cask series. George Grant, 6th Generation Family Member and current Sales Director, welcomed attendees and invited them to taste the full range of Family Casks, from 1954 – 2001.
George said of the event: ‘For six generations, my family has taken pride in the quality of the whisky we produce. It was this pride and a sense of history which led us to create the Family Casks, a unique collection of single cask, single malt Scotch Whiskies.
We launched the Family Casks in September 2007 at The Caledonian Club in London. We have been delighted by the response to the collection and, 10 years on, it has grown and its following is stronger than ever. If a lucky collector had acquired the full set of the Family Cask when it was first released in 2007, the full 43 bottles, it would have cost in the region of £13,000. Now, that same set would cost closer to £75,000.
Thanks to the foresight of my grandfather, George S Grant, we are in the rather enviable position to have single casks dating from 1954 to 2002 available. I am not aware of another distillery with stock from so many consecutive years. It is our intention to release the very best of these casks, at natural strength and colour. We are doing this for two reasons; firstly, because we can, and secondly, because we thought it would be rather fun!’
