We are delighted to be working with Bonhams to auction a unique Methuselah of Pol Roger Blanc de Blancs 2004 on 11th September 2014.
Maison Pol Roger bottled this limited edition Methuselah to celebrate the launch of the Pol Roger Blanc de Blancs 2004, and it was unveiled at the Riders and Owners party at Badminton Horse Trials 2014 by professional event rider, Laura Collett. Laura was a fitting candidate to reveal this exceptional bottle, because her riding career has been similarly extraordinary. Laura enjoyed an astronomical rise to success and was on course to continue when, in 2013, she had a devastating fall which left her in a coma for a week with a fractured shoulder, punctured lung, lacerated liver, two broken ribs and permanent loss of vision in one eye. However Laura has made a remarkable recovery and has returned to eventing, displaying an unswerving commitment to the sport and impressive determination and bravery.
On Laura’s request this unique bottle, which has been signed by the Great and the Good of the Three Day Eventing industry, will be sold at auction, with all proceeds going to the Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation, to fund innovative medical research, that we hope will lead to a repair and cure for spinal cord injury. This worthy cause is already championed by fellow talented event rider Claire Lomas, who had an accident while competing at Osberton Horse Trials in May 2007 and has been fundraising ever since for charities that are researching spinal injuries and their potential treatments.
