We were delighted to be joined by Veronique Drouhin, fourth generation family member of Maison Joseph Drouhin, for the 2017 Vintage Cask Sample Tasting at The Photographers’ Gallery.
Earlier in the week we drove from London to Beaune to collect the cask samples and ensure their safe return to the UK for the tasting. We returned with a boot laden with the wines from Macon to Musigny.
Members of the trade and press joined us at The Photographers’ Gallery to taste through the range, starting with a walk around tasting of the village wines, followed by a seated, tutored tasting of the Premier and Grand Cru wines.
Initial remarks on the 2017 vintage are that yields have returned to normal levels, following a run of smaller vintages in recent years. The whites are showing fantastic acidity and freshness, promising an exciting evolution. The reds are already hugely fragrant and elegant but with sufficient concentration to age.
