Weekly Update on Hugo Palmer’s string
7th September to 14th September 2017
This week saw Hugo pass the 50 winner mark for the year as Fajjaj won at Ascot under Josephine Gordon for owner Al Shaqab Racing on debut – a very promising start for this son of Dawn Approach.
It has been a very productive week overall with six winners and eight placed horses from only 24 runners (2 horses were very unlucky not to be involved in the finish of their races having met plenty of “traffic problems”).
The highlight of the week was probably the first time out win for The Revenant, a beautifully bred son of Dubawi owned by Al Asayl Bloodstock. Hugo holds this colt in some regard and he was in command at the finish under jockey Pat Cosgrave. At this stage all dreams are still alive.
Alba Power ran a big race to finish third in the very valuable Weatherbys Racing Bank 2 y o Stakes at Doncaster on Thursday earning her owner Fiona and Ian Carmichael-Jennings nearly £30,000 in the process – more than for winning many a race.
Significant entries for the next few days include Unforgetable Filly, winner of the German 1000 Guineas, in the Group 3 Sceptre Stakes on Friday and Home of the Brave, who has won two of his three races this year, set for the Group 2 Park Stakes on Saturday, both at Doncaster.
