We are delighted to announce the arrival of Robert Sinskey Vineyards Vin Gris of Pinot Noir 2014.
Based in the Los Carneros and Stags Leap districts of Napa and Sonoma Valleys, Robert Sinskey has grown his 100% organic and biodynamic certified winegrowing operation to over 200 acres of premium vineyards. It has been almost 25 years since Robert Sinskey started making a Vin Gris of Pinot Noir from their Carneros vineyards, however this is the first time that the wine has been available in the UK.
At the outset the Vin Gris of Pinot Noir was intended to be a counterpoint to the popular sweet pink Rosé wines that dominated the market, which led to an overriding perception that Rosé was invariably of poor quality and sweet. Fortunately, such negative connotations have now dissipated and there is no longer such a fear of pink!
Gently whole-cluster pressing RSV’s estate grown organic pinot noir grapes brings out the most delicate and aromatic nuances of pinot noir without over-extracting the colour. It is vibrant and luscious with aromatics and flavours of wild strawberry and peach skin. The wine is a perfect foil for all types of food; take on a picnic or present at the table.
We launched this wine at a Biodynamic Breakfast at the Pol Roger Portfolio London office, where we showed wines from our three Biodynamic agencies; Robert Sinskey Vineyards, Maison Joseph Drouhin and Domaine Josmeyer. The wines were paired with an organic and sustainably sourced breakfast including homemade, free range bacon and sausages from independent, family-run butcher HG Walter using Duroc/Hampshire cross pigs from Lydling Farm, Surrey, London’s most local Free Range Pork Supplier.
