For the first time, Kilchoman is sponsoring the U.K Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival 2015. Created by Amelia and Tim Whitaker, with the objective of promoting the fantastic saltwater fly fishing opportunities from the beautiful Cornish coast and capitalising on the growing interest in the sport from around the world. The events runs from September 24th-27th and is based in the historic fishing village of St Mawes. Participants are obliged to fish from the shore and any fish caught will be returned to the water alive. This festival is also open to amateurs and training is available from professional fishermen.
Kilchoman are delighted to be involved in such an innovative and unique competition, which not only requires fantastic skill but also has an educative function, both in terms of teaching the art of the sport and the importance of conservation.
The Wills family, Kilchoman founders, are also keen fishermen and will therefore be trying their luck at fly-fishing during the competition!
