There were very few runners for the yard until Tuesday when four horses were sent out to three different tracks. Two went to nearby Yarmouth and both returned as winners. Jack Mitchell was given the steering of the pair and steering about describes it as both ran out very comfortable winners. Mystic Meg could be named the winner fully three furlongs from home, always travelling strongly, taking it up two furlongs out and easily pulling more than three lengths clear of her field. This was the third win of the year for the daughter of Camelot owned by the Duke of Roxburghe.
By contrast Sudona was winning her first race ever after six attempts. It was however an impressive victory once she switched into the clear and hit the front half a furlong out. She pulled clear to win comfortably by 1 ¾ lengths.
The last runner of the week was also a winner and the only entry on the day for Kremlin Cottage. After two promising seconds, Red October got off the mark at the third attempt making all the running under Jim Crowley.
Totals for the year to date are 76 winners (only one short of last year’s total already) and 90 placed.
