The new week started with a winner as Mootasadir travelled over to Dundalk and won the Group 3 Diamond Stakes under Pat Cosgrave. Places followed for Rashdan, Mystic Meg and Gulliver.
Hugo took three horses to Kempton on Monday night and returned to Kremlin Cottage with a winner, a second and a third. Red October was second again beaten just over a length and Corrosive was a fast finishing third. He has had an excellent season already with four wins to his name. The eye-catcher however was Ours Puissant. On his debut he had started at 33-1 and was beaten some 23 lengths. Well found in the market this time at 3-1, this fluid moving son of Kodiac made all the running on this occasion and without James Doyle having to get in any way energetic he drew well clear to win by seven lengths. Another nice youngster for the yard.
Only one runner for the yard on Wednesday when Birdcage Walk made his debut. This stoutly bred son of Sea the Moon (sic) showed a measure of promise finishing fourth under Josephine Gordon.
With no runners on Thursday the week ended with Hugo stuck tantalizingly less than £3000 short of the £1 million mark for prize money for the year. 66 winners and 86 placed.
