Kevin Carr Announced as the Winner of the Inaugural Glenfarclas Cocktail Competition

On Monday 22nd July, the 6 finalists from the Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen heats made the journey to the Glenfarclas Distillery for the final.

The judging panel was joined by Glenfarclas Chairman and 5th generation family member John Grant.

Each competitor was tasked with reproducing their Glenfarclas 105 cocktail from the heats, having taken into consideration the judges’ feedback, in order to fine tune their cocktail.

The selection of cocktails showed the breadth of flavours the 105 offers, drawn out by the bartenders; from marmalade to citrus to spice.

After much deliberation, the judging panel crowned Kevin Carr, Bar Manager at Urban Bar, Glasgow, as the winner with his ‘Green Grass Fizz’, a homage to the meaning of Glenfarclas ‘Valley of the Green Grassland’. The judges complimented the concept of the cocktail, praising the innovative use of sugar snap peas and its suitability to be reproduced at The Festival in Cheltenham.

Kevin will now be invited to return to the Distillery for a 3-day internship as well as joining the Glenfarclas team at The Festival at Cheltenham in March.
