Hugo Palmer’s Caravan of Hope Wins the Northumberland Plate

Caravan of Hope (Nathaniel – Caravan of Dreams) with rider, Harry Bentley, took first place in the Northumberland plate over the weekend. Hugo Palmer, trainer and Pol Roger Ambassador, and the horse’s owner, Dr Ali Ridha, were both overjoyed with the result.

Hugo Palmer had another runner in the race, Collide (Frankel – Scuffle) who finished in the winners’ circle with 3rd place.

Palmer said of the race “I didn’t know which one to cheer – I was just shouting ‘go on boys!’.

I’m a Newcastle United fan, I grew up just north of there, I went to university there – and the Plate is one of those races I’ve dreamt of winning.

There aren’t many handicaps on the bucket list, but this is one of them. I’m absolutely chuffed to bits.”
