We were delighted to have Brad Grimes of Abreu Wines in London last week, and enjoyed a whirlwind week of tastings and an opportunity to try these rare and highly acclaimed wines.

We learned from Brad that Abreu are slow to make any significant changes when they have honed their style over many years;  vinification and viticulture remains the same and they keep the same barrels every year.

One of the overarching features that struck most tasters was the pronounced tannic structure and slow ageing of the wines. This was  particularly evident in the case of 2003 Thorevilos, which was markedly more evolved than its more youthful counterparts, 2007 and 2013.
