Champagne Pol Roger has signed a three-year sponsorship deal with Hugo Palmer Racing, a fitting addition to their longstanding support of elite British sport. Pol Roger is the official champagne of the Festival of British Eventing at Gatcombe Park, the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, leading rugby club, Bath as well as being the champagne sponsor of men’s and women’s professional and amateur Real Tennis. Meanwhile, sporting ambassadors include Equestrian Team GBR members Harry Meade and Laura Collett.

Sir Winston Churchill, the house’s most prominent “ambassador”, famously insisted “In defeat I need it, in victory I deserve it” and even named one of his favourite race horses “Pol Roger”. The house remains family-owned and has a well-earned reputation for producing champagnes boasting great finesse and elegance.

Raised in the Scottish borders, Palmer started training in Newmarket in 2011 and has swiftly climbed the training ladder to establish himself as one of the leading trainers in the UK, a position that he strengthened when Galileo Gold stormed to success in the 2016 QIPCO 2000 Guineas. As a multiple Group 1 winning trainer, Hugo has proven that his horses can compete on racing’s biggest stages with winners at major race meetings including Royal Ascot, the Qatar Goodwood Festival, and The Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. From a yard of 11 horses back in 2011, Hugo and his team kick off the 2017 season with close to 200 horses.

Hugo commented “I am delighted to welcome Champagne Pol Roger on-board as our new sponsor. To have such a prestigious brand supporting our yard is testament to the success we, as a team, have enjoyed. Let’s hope we will have reason to toast many winners with a few glasses of Pol Roger over the course of the season.”

Charles Hamer, Director of Racing at Champagne Pol Roger commented “We are thrilled to be involved with one of the leading stables in the UK and look forward with anticipation to the season ahead and beyond with Hugo Palmer Racing.”
