We are delighted to have completed our first Three Day Eventing season as the Official Champagne of the Land Rover Burghley Horse trials and the FEI European Eventing Championships held at Blair Castle. For Pol Roger, this season was defined by our enhanced commitment to the sport of Three Day Eventing. For both of these events, the Pol Roger Land Rover formed the centrepiece of a pop-up Safari themed lodge, from which Pol Roger champagne was served.
The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials 2015 was the second year Pol Roger had supported the Land Rover VIP pavilion at this event. However this year, to mark the 50th year of the Defender and also our recent collaboration with the Land Rover Special Vehicle department, we built an outdoor Safari-themed lodge within the Land Rover VIP enclosure, which was used to entertain Land Rover and Pol Roger guests.
In celebration of Pol Roger’s first year as the official champagne of the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, and in acknowledgement of the prestigious nature of this event (Burghley carries a 4* star rating, the highest possible classification for an Eventing competition, and is one of only two such events held in the UK each year) we chose to launch the latest vintage of our prestige cuvee, the Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill 2004 at the event. We were joined by a number of celebrated figures from Three Day Eventing, from Land Rover as well as friends from brands such as Dubarry and Holland & Holland, with whom we have developed a relationship as a result of their involvement in the sport.
Following hot on the heels of Burghley was the Longines FEI European Eventing Championships held at Blair Castle, at which Pol Roger was once again the official Champagne. Polly and her safari trappings made the ascent to Perthshire, where we erected a Pol Roger lodge next to the main arena. The lodge was an impressive 50ft x 40ft timber framed canvas tent, which was transformed into an African safari lodge, with Polly forming the backdrop alongside our bespoke bar. We used the lodge to host the launch party for the Pol Roger Brut Vintage 2006 which attracted a vibrant crowd of owners, riders, press and VIP guests.
We were joined by both Pol Roger Ambassador’s Laura Collett and Harry Meade, both of whom are strong contenders for a place in the British Olympic team to compete at Rio 2016.
