Jonathan Smailes, Sales Director, led a group of Berry Bros & Rudd staff on a trip out to Champagne to visit Maison Pol Roger and close ally, Maison Bollinger. This trip has been a long-standing tradition, highlighting the markedly different wine making practices of the two houses, yet very similar ethos and outlooks. Both houses retain the unmistakeable charm of remaining under family ownership and unswerving commitment to quality.
At Maison Pol Roger, the party were invited to taste a trio of 2002 vintages; Pol Roger Blanc de Blancs, Brut Vintage and Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill. It was fascinating to see how the different styles, from the same stellar vintage, were evolving and still have the capacity to age for longer.
