For the 3rd consecutive year we were delighted to be the Official Champagne of Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials.
Following the success of the Pol Roger Lodge in 2016, we were very excited to resurrect it in 2017, as a hotly anticipated feature of the horse trial. The Pol Roger Portfolio Land Rover Defender returned to the stunning parkland of Burghley House from 31st August – 3rd September and took centre stage within the Lodge. The Lodge moved adjacent to the Collecting Ring and was a hotspot for watching the Eventing action as well as a relaxed and inviting bar space in which to unwind and enjoy a glass of champagne.
Over the course of the weekend we had an action-packed schedule including a course-walk led by our Ambassador, Laura Collett, a champagne masterclass for Women in Racing and a post-Cross Country party, however the highlight was undoubtedly the ‘Bits vs Balls Challenge’. Clare Balding OBE hosted a rip-roaring sporting contest between equine legends Sir Mark Todd, Lucinda Green MBE and Oliver Townend vs rugby royalty Geordan Murphy, Matt Powell and Dave Flatman. The event was a huge success, raising in excess of £2,500 for Hannah’s Willberry Wonder Pony Charity. This fantastic charity aims to support vital research into osteosarcoma and to grant equine related wishes to seriously ill people and their families.
We felt hugely privileged to be part of one of only six CCI4* events in the world, with some of the best International Event Riders competing and look forward to returning in 2018.
