Saturday saw the return to action of Fajjaj following his facile victory at Ayr. Moved up in class to a Listed race at Newbury, he ran a fine race, losing second place only on the line under Frankie Dettori. He is progressing nicely.
Meanwhile over at Lingfield Barend Boy got his season back on track after a couple of disappointing runs. Running in a handicap for the first time, he was always travelling well and was only pushed out for a comfortable victory.
Formula One, a Frankel colt owned by Fiona Carmichael, made his debut on Tuesday at Newcastle. A relatively weak second favourite at 8-1, he ran a race of immense promise. Missing the break slightly and with plenty to do three furlongs out he made good progress a furlong from home and then ran on really strongly to get within 1 ½ lengths of the winner. Definitely one for the notebook.
There were a number of placed horses during the week leaving the totals at:
39 winners and 55 placed horses for the season to date.
