The frustrating run of placed horses continues. Fourth places for Deira Surprise, Encrypted (a good run in the Listed Chipchase Stakes), Arbalet, Persepone and Maysoun. third for Blonde Warrior and second for Siglo Six.
On Thursday at Yarmouth Incinerator, having his second run and wearing a tongue tie for the first time, built on his debut fourth to finish second. Pat Cosgrave had him fast away and he tried to make all the running giving best only inside the final furlong.
The following week continued the run of places! Fourth for Sudona, third placefor Abr Al Hudood and seconds for Deira Surprise and Beauty of Deira, both owned by Dr Ali Ridha, Take Fright and Gold Fleece.
The run was finally broken by HotTouch at Kempton. Ridden by Jack Mitchell, the filly was following up a highly promising second on debut. Held up behind the pace she closed on the leaders one furlong out and took it up inside the final 100 yards to win by ¼ lengths.
On the first day of the July Meeting at Newmarket Hugo unleashed a nicely bred daughter of Exceed and Excel – East of Eden– with an interesting jockey booking in Ryan Moore. The filly pulled extremely hard and was always prominent. She was slightly short of room in the closing stages and ended up a very close third. This was a highly promising debut and can be marked up as she burned a great deal of energy in being so keen throughout.
The coming weekend is one of the busiest in the entire calendar and there are plenty of entries from Kremlin Cottage including some of the most promising inmates – Collide, Coase, Heavenly Holly and the much touted Ironclad.
There are 21 winners on the board for the season to date and no less than 45 placed horses (not including fourths).
