Apologies firstly for the long silence from this quarter. Your correspondent carelessly broke his hip. In the time that I have been off the track the scores for Kremlin Cottage have moved on a fair bit and now have reached 39 winners with 65 placed horses for the season.
The most recent victories have been for Siglo Six, Incinerator and Acquitted. Acquitted was making his debut whilst Siglo Six and Incinerator were both winning for the second time this season. Incinerator has been a model of consistency never having been out of the frame in six runs this season.
There have been two notable placed efforts recently with Mootasadir finishing an excellent second in the Group 3 September Stakes at Kempton, having led inside the final furlong. At Doncaster on Wednesday Hariboux went close to winning his fourth race from five runs this season, finishing second also.
The week ended however on one of the highlights of the season to date for Kremlin Cottage. With only one runner on the day, Hugo sent Powerful Breeze up to Doncaster on day two of the St Leger Festival meeting to contest the Group 2 May Hill Stakes. Having won a Newmarket Novice on debut , which has in the past provided the winner of today’s race, the daughter of Iffraj duly stepped up markedly to win. Ridden by James Doyle and well backed beforehand the filly was held up in rear before making good progress two furlongs out to lead a furlong from home and held on well for a clear success. Given that there were horses in the race well forward in the market for next season’s 1000 Guineas, one can only dream of the heights she may scale going forward.
Now that the reports are back on track, next week should hopefully be more informative.
