The turf season is now properly under way with the Guineas meeting before us this weekend and hence this first report of the year.
Hugo had a profitable time on the all-weather surfaces in the run up to the turf with fourteen winners already on the board and quarter of a million pounds prize money already within touching distance. The biggest earner is Heavenly Holly, successful on All Weather Finals day at Lingfield on Good Friday to earn the owner, Hunscote Stud, nearly £100,000 (with your correspondent the main victim finishing second with his own filly).
Mootasadir, El Ghazwani and Dahawi have each won two races already. However the start to the turf season has been relatively quiet to date.
As already mentioned we move up a gear this weekend with Newmarket hosting the two Guineas, the first Classics of the season. Hugo still has Set Piece engaged in the 2000 Guineas following a promising first start to the season finishing 3rdalso at Headquarters.
Amongst other entries stable favourite Gifted Master is also engaged at Newmarket on Sunday.
We look forward to another successful campaign for Kremlin Cottage in 2019.
