Gallica is highly-regarded winemaker Rosemary Cakebread’s first solo project. The brand was born in 2007 out of a desire to make wines from unique sites, working side-by-side with committed growers, and exploring unique varietals.
Rosemary’s philosophy, which she has applied to over 30 vintages, is to rely on simple winemaking practices while lavishing in the detail. Her objective is to create expressive yet balanced wines that represent the very best of a vintage. In addition to their organically farmed estate Petite Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon, grapes are sourced from family owned vineyards on enviable sites from Napa Valley to Santa Lucia Highlands.
RORICK HERITAGE ALBARINO 2019
The epitome of summer, the delicacy of white peach and salivating lime zest suggests late night dining, sushi, and garden vegetables. Beeswax, subtle jasmine and brioche fill out the aromatics in this zippy wine.
ROSSI RANCH GRENACHE 2018
Laced with wild strawberry but also a nuanced wooly thyme and wet stone. Burgundian in character and winemaking, fermentation occurs in open top tanks with enough stems to perfect elegant tannins. The soft ruby
colour is deceptive, with a grip and amplitude to these wines that grabs our attention.
OAKVILLE RANCH CABERNET FRANC 2016
The varietal is unparalleled on this site. The aromatic descriptions are voluminous but we favour rose petal, pomegranate, and chrysanthemum. The resulting wine is fresh, yet amply structured. Enjoy now with decanting or hang in there for future pleasure.
OAKVILLE RANCH CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2016
Graced with forward fruit, yet with great length and precision. Cabernet Sauvignon from this rocky site is alluring and energetic with notes of white chocolate, pomegranate, and forest floor. As in most of the recent drought years, Cabernet Franc has been the imposing architecture of the blend carrying a signature of sweet tobacco, rose petal and dried chrysanthemum.
